TG582N - Network File Server

Hi, on reading the manual for the TG582n it indicates that under content sharing that the network file server allows devices in the same Workgroup  to have read + write access to a shared external disk attached via the USB port of the TG582n.  I have set the router up and disk as per the instructions and whilst I can read any file on the disk(in the media folder), I can't WRITE to the disk.  Can anybody help?  The disk has been formatted as FAT32.

It may be the disks needs more power than the routers USB can supply.
Do you have a powered USB hub you could use between the router and HDD.

I hardly think that is relevant to a disk write problem.  If there's enough power to move the disk head to perform a read then there is certainly enough for it to perform a write.  As it happens the disk is in an external caddy with it's own independent power supply. 
Any sensible suggestions please?

Without the benefit of a crystal ball that was a sensible suggestion.

Actually in my experience of having problems with portable drives a write will draw a little more power than a read of the disk.
What is the drive formatted to? I believe the TG582N may have a problem reading from NTFS.

Yeah, the router won't do NTFS due to needing to pay M$ lots of money for the license
