Sync rate woes!

Hi
I have been having connection and speed problems since I migrated to plus about a month ago. To cut a very long story (ticket) short, I believe that my router is at fault, or at least not compatible for some reason! As such, I changed my modem to a simple usb modem and now I appear to be flying! However, my sync rate is still at 500kbps. Having had a reliable, stable connection for nearly 20 hours now, at 4.4mbps, is there any chance you could change my sync rate so that I can see if my woes are truly over, and throw the netgear router in the bin!
Regards
Dan

Re: Sync rate woes!

You will need to wait 3 -> 5 days for BT to catch up with your new higher sync rate and increase your IP profile (the data rate speed they will allow). That is how the system works unfortunately.
What does www.speedtester.bt.com say?

Re: Sync rate woes!

Hi, ok np, guess i'll just have to wait.
The results from speedtest do show that my line is definitely capable of more!

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 250 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  4416 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 215 kbps
If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

Hope I re sync soon Smiley

Re: Sync rate woes!

Hi DBoy,
Looking at BTs IP Profiling reports, I'd expect your profile to be lifted at some stage tomorrow.

Re: Sync rate woes!

Ok thanx.
I know this is a stupid question but i'm gonna ask it anyway!
As I am now connected with my usb modem, does this mean that I have to keep my pc on at all times now in order to keep my sync rate and IP profile up?

Re: Sync rate woes!

No.
Now you have proved that your problem was due to your router I'd seriously suggest investing in a new router. You might see even better speeds.

Re: Sync rate woes!

Hi, any plusnet staff reading this?
Am puzzled! I ordered a BT 2110 Voyager router but the 1800HG has been delivered instead! I have definately been charged for the voyager! Whats the difference, price / performance, + am I due some kind of refund? Havent raised a ticket yet because I dont have time, (I should be back at work now!), but I will check forum when I return home before raising a ticket.

Re: Sync rate woes!

PlusNet supply the 1800HG or Voyager 2110 at the same cost - it just depends on what is in stock at the time. The 1800HG is a better router so I would not complain too loudly Wink

Re: Sync rate woes!

Hi there,
Due to stock issues, we've been shipping out the HG1800 instead of the 2110.
The 2110 is also due to be removed (along with the whole Voyager line) in a months time.
