Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

This is from my connection info
Estimated line speed:
Not recorded (service activated before we introduced estimates).
Current line speed:
    5500

A while ago the speed was in bold, and for some time now, over 2 months, sync has been in the region shown in title. Today it was 7072.
Shouldn't my profile be higher than that shown?

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

Can you run a bt speedtest and see what profile that gives?
You need to keep your synch for 3 days to raise you profile.

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

Bed now , so test tomorrow, but this evening BT tester showed 5000. As to sync, the high rates have been, when I've looked at Router Stats, in the region I've stated in OP for some considerable time. Will leave on tonight to see if any overnight resyncs.

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

BT results from a few minutes ago
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 7072 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 5500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4867 kbps

An aside question. The test I used last evening brought up a second test that I could not see how to use: this morning's did not. What is test 2 used for, when is it required?

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

I've personally never been able to get the second test to run, so not sure what the actual purpose of it is.
Your current sync speed should give you an IP Profile of 6000Kbps, which I expect will pick up in the next couple of days.

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

HI James! What I do not understand is why it hasn't before, as AFAIK the high sync rates have been seen for some time. And why the rate is not in bold as it used to be. Could my disconnecting whilst away over w/end have an effect?

I don't think the lack of a bold font is anything to worry about Smiley
Yes - I think your reconnecting over the weekend probably resulting in a *slightly* lower sync event, causing the profile to drop to 5500Kbps.  Should pick up again soon though.

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

Before w/end when everything was powered off was about 68xx. Has been running at 7071 since I came back

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

When you sync at a higher speed so as to put you on a higher profile, the speed at which this will happen depends on how large the % increase is, for just one step up this is usually around 3 days, but that is with the modem/router left on 24/7. If you switch it off regularly it will take a lot longer.
Conversely, if you have a lower sync that would put you on a lower profile, this will happen within 75 minutes. Unfortunately this is the way the exchange DLM works!
PN profiles usually catch up BT's within 12 hours. Sometimes either can get "stuck", doesn't happen too often though.

Re: Sync @ high 6Ks low 7Ks

This is not a moan
I'm still @ 5500 profile  and the BT test a couple of minutes back had d/load 4809. However the tester recommended by PN gave this series of results
Today 09:42  6067 kbps (758kB/s)
Today 09:27 6548 kbps (819kB/s)
Today 09:26 6156 kbps (770kB/s)
I'm perplexed: I can only think the recommended one is broke. Is there another explanation

Is that different breakage from this then? http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,76678.msg616340.html
