Router (Netgear DG834G Specs Below)
ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023b.d20e
Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 1184 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps
VPI 0
VCI 38

BT Speedtest Below

Download speedachieved during the test was - 932 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 200-1000 Kbps.
Additional Information:

Your DSL Connection Rate :1184 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1000 Kbps

Connection Speed 1184 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 26.0 db
Noise Margin 27.3 db 15.0 db

My current setup is

My current setup is
BT IPLATE on Master socket>Telephone Extention lead>Microfilter>Router.

I suspect this will be where the problem lies. Extension wiring is notoriously bad for interference, especially if it runs under a carpet or door where it'll be getting bent regularly. I suspect if you just go iplate -> filter -> router you'll go back to the speeds you're used to, using a longer length of ethernet cable in place of the telephone extension won't affect the signal in the same way the extension will.
Hope that helps,

Re: Sync Speed Jumping about- Why??

Hello,
Thanks for your reply;
By Ethernet cable, do you mean
1. Ethernet cable going to PC
2. The cable going from microfilter to router (Known as RJ11 to RJ11)
The ethernet would be impossible to use, as i use my laptop all over the place using wireless and i need to have my router near my USB network hub, so it will connect to it.

Im going to try connecting Microfilter to Main IPLATE socket, then connecting directly
Hopefully that will help

Regards and Many Thanks

Direct connection stats from router:
ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023b.d20e
Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 3648 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps
VPI 0
VCI 38

Much better!

Re: Sync Speed Jumping about- Why??

I meant ethernet to PC, but if you use wireless then the position of the router shouldn't matter.
With regard to the USB network hub, is it a computer or a router that connects to this via USB? I suspect the router would need to connect via ethernet, in which case a longer ethernet cable between the router and this would make no difference to the signal strength at all.
EDIT - Glad to see the removal of the extension has helped, I suspected that was the cause. I hope you manage to find an alternative to connect the router to the switch (if it is connected via USB, a USB extension cable should also work fine and not affect the signal).

Re: Sync Speed Jumping about- Why??

Hello Matt,
The problem is that i have only one power socket, only for the router near the master socket, but about 7m away is the USB Hub (Belkin F5L009UK) and a WD HDD that plugs into the router using Ethernet, so it needs to be near it so i can plug in my playstation as well. Im looking to get a ADSL 10m Cable, so it will reach, and not have the interference of Bent up Extention wiring.
Well...At least my speed picked up, now i need to wait for my IP profile to pick up  Grin
Regards
Aman
