Re: Sync, Profile etc - is my understanding correct?

spraxyt - I've not had any problems with any type of noise on the line that I can remember.
I had a go at swapping to a different router yesterday but it was just the same.
However, the stats (to me) don't seem as horrendous now even though I'm back on the original router:

Uptime: 1 day, 10:27:18
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 796 / 5,488
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 440 / 3,072
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 290.13 / 2.67
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 17.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 26.5 / 45.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 18.5 / 8.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 268 / 994,169
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 35 / 10
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 10 / 22

Re: Sync, Profile etc - is my understanding correct?

Yes, the new stats do look healthier, particularly the downstream SN Margin. Starting the router from cold has probably helped to reinitialise all the counters properly. Previously the HEC error values would have been negative and positive counters might not have started at zero.
The router must have been disconnected when you tried the spare and it's always possible that unplugging and reinserting cables has cleaned or remade a slightly suspect contact.

Re: Sync, Profile etc - is my understanding correct?

Just to finish this one off.
As anticipated my connection had been banded.  This has now been sorted out and and I'm now connected at 5752 kbps and getting speed test results just under 5Mbps.
Needless to say I'm now happy once again.
Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Re: Sync, Profile etc - is my understanding correct?

As requested - interestingly the errors seem to be mounting up fairly quickly again.  Should I be worried or is it just something to keep an eye on?

Re: Sync, Profile etc - is my understanding correct?

Thanks. Difficult to be explicit but I just have the feeling that things are not as good as they should be. Downstream sync speed is about 1000kbps on the low side but most noticeable is the upstream CRC error count looks to be excessive, My stats show 2562 upstream CRC errors after 23 days whereas yours show that number in 4 hours. Something to keep a watch on I guess.
Unless you get problems with low speeds or disconnections it would probably be difficult to get further testing done, though you could query the high upstream CRC error count. The mean time between upstream errors is about 6 seconds (4h 38m 40s is 16720 seconds divided by 2533 = 6.6 seconds). I think one every 30 seconds would be regarded as satisfactory.
I'd be inclined to see what the number looks like after 24 hours.

If you have a Thomson router, make sure the latest firmware has been installed.
