Switching off router.

Hi all,
When I was with BT, then Sky, I switched my router off along with the computer when not in use.
A member of the plusnet team told me to leave the router on 24/7, is there a proceedure that will allow me to turn off without causing problems.
I have a Speedtouch ST516v6 and using Windows 7. My knowledge of computing is very limited, so simple instructions please.
Many thanks,
Dave.

Re: Switching off router.

How often do you turn it off.
Once or twice a day won't cause problems after the 10 day training period (I assumed you moved from Sky LLU)

Re: Switching off router.

Hi Dave68,
If you access your router homepage (normally by typing 192.168.1.254 in your browser address bar) you will be able to select the disconnect button which will tell the exchange it was powered down on purpose rather than a loss of connection. This will then not have an adverse effect on your connection profile.
