Switching off Fibre Modem and/or Router for hols

I know it's recommended that you keep your router and FIBRE* modem on and connected 24/7, but what about if you're going away for a week and you'd rather not leave the router on?  I assume leaving the modem on won't cause problems, but what if you'd rather turn that off for a week? Would that affect your speed or is it only frequent disconnections that do that?
*the word FIBRE capitalised to ensure I don't get any well-meaning replies about my ADSL service!  Wink

Ideally get your router to drop your PPP session, but other than that just turn it off...better safe than sorry....

Yep, if you drop the PPP session before turning everything off you should be fine - but yes it's fine to leave the modem off for a week if you're away.

Drop the PPP session by going to routers interface, click DSL, then click disconnect.
Enjoy your hols
