Switch interleaving ON please

I'm going to need interleaving switched on. Being unable to use the Internet for a couple of hours in the evening gets somewhat inconvenient.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

I've turned it on, should take effect within 30 minutes or so.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Well, the graph for yesterday shows:
The problem re-appeared at a little past 07:30
I re-connected the ADSL at about 08:20 to get a usable Internet connection
Interleaving enabled at 10:00
The problem disappearing in two steps, at midnight and finally at 00:45 today.
The problem was manageable probably partly from the interleaving and partly by re-connecting while the problem was present.
Today I've switched to the 582n, connected to the other phone socket, which is technically the master but last time I checked it makes no difference due to the star wiring arrangement, and yet more new microfilters, this time ones that came with a BT Business Hub.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

And the result: very similar to yesterday morning, I had to trigger the first drop to get a usable Internet connection.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Do you want me to try turning interleaving up another notch? It's on medium at the moment, could try it on high. Alternatively I could bump the SNR to a 9db target to see if that helps.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

I think I'll probably have to raise a fault to finally get the star wiring and 30+ year ago master socket sorted out. The broadband speed was somewhat below my current estimate before last weekend anyway, and now it's even worse than usual.
In hindsight, I probably should have just swapped routers first, then I'm sure the DLM would have re-enabled interleaving automatically.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

The line just dropped again while I was posting that, the new stats should make the problem somewhat more obvious, although I'll have to go and check if the phone still works:

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Plusnet escape again, since it didn't surprise me to find that no, of course the phone no longer works, no dial tone, doesn't ring, so I won't be reporting the fault to Plusnet.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Update to the latest instalment of the saga:
I walked up to our cabinet, and was quite surprised to find the doors wide open, the usual barriers around it, folding chair, tools, radio playing etc. Whatever work the Openreach man was doing there, it seemed to be set up for it to take a while. I had to interrupt the guy's lunch break, he was laying across the van's front seats with his boots sticking out the passenger side window. Anyway, so I explained what had just happened, and he noted down my phone number, and I'll have to see what happens this afternoon.
The BT website, on the other hand, thinks the fault is in or near our home. The Openreach man working in the cabinet could well be entirely coincidental.

The test results probably showed a 'loop fault' which normally indicates premises or between the cab and house. Fingers crossed he sorts it out this afternoon for you.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

The guys working at the cabinet fixed the voice aspect at about 14:15, returning the broadband to the state it was in earlier this morning.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Can I get interleaving switched on so that it stays on permanently this time please? Last time the DLM just switched it back off after 2 days.

Re: Switch interleaving ON please

Yep, it'll need placing as an order rather than the normal tool we use for this. So it won't happen until tomorrow, I'll go get that placed now.
