Suspect Router

Can someone tell me what are the signs that my router is giving me problems because I have had this router for fours years and at least about three or four times a week a loose connection but it does reconnects very quickly It is not too much of a problem but I thought it might be my Thomson router is showing wear I have the TG582n Technicolor just in case so I just wondered if I should try it.

I know nothing but  will ask some preliminary questions
It has been doing this for 4 years?  if not when did it start?
What do the lights on the router do when it loses the connection.?
Please post the router stats.

It has been doing it for four years some weeks I have no disconnections at all,the internet light goes out on the router I'm not sure what you mean about software I am a elderly gent and i'm not use to this technology Uptime: 0 days, 19:45:20

According to the following speed calculator your line should be capable of a max speed of 16,000Mbps.

Not everyone will get the theoretical maximum speed, you need a perfect line for that.
It's always worth trying a different router so yes I would try the tg582n. You will probably need to manually enter your plusnet username and password before it will connect, so I suggest you enter those before connecting it to the phone line.
