Supersonic

During the really bad weather last weekend, my phone line went very crackly, and Broadband kept dropping out.
PN measured my line, and told me of 50 dropouts in 3 days !!
Scary graph coming up.....

A fault was raise, an experienced and friendly BT Engineer came out, on time, spent 3 hours tracing the fault, and in the end substituted the line between my BT pole & the exchange for a replacement one.
He explained the process of dynamic s/n processing, 12db down to 6db etc.
After the line was fixed, as expected, my BB speed, which had been consistently 17.34mb/s ( on Copper ) before the fault, dropped to 13mb/s, gradually increasing over the next 5 days, (learning period) to its' current 19.18mb/s.

Not bad !

Excellent advice and service from PlusNet, as always.
BT too, really did an excellent job at tracing and repairing the fault.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I'm now faster than a 100 metre sprinter ......
Just in case you needed reminding !!

Re: Supersonic

Any difference in attenuation before / during / after?

I have no idea, it is something I don't check.

This is what I read today 7th July, having eventually found a link to read the information.
Is this good ?
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 8,7 / 16,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6,0 / 3,2

I am 460 metres from Exchange.

Putting your down attenuation into the Kitz - "Maximum adsl speed calculator", gives -

Either your attenuation is a bit high for a 460m cable, or the actual cable route is nearly three times the length compared with the distance the crow flies to your exchange.
However the good news is that your real world download speed is faster than that predicted for your line.

Re: Supersonic

It's when his download speed is faster than his sync speed that he needs to worry  Crazy

Re: Supersonic

Thanks for the input guys, but TBH I don't care about the technicalities, either it works, or it doesn't.
If it doesn't I know a very nice man at PlusNet who does know !
One day, perhaps .....
