Sudden changes to speed & latency.....why?

About 10 days ago during some overnight Plusnet maintenance to one of its systems my Gateway changed, as I had expected. However, my fibre speed dropped markedly & my latency doubled. During this period my speed checks also became very erratic. I have tried a couple of Gateway changes but with no positive result.
When I logged on just after 6 AM this morning I checked as usual & lo & behold both my speeds & latency have returned to their previous values. My Gateway hasn't changed.
Is anyone able to provide me with an explanation? If so I will be most grateful. Roll_eyes

Re: Sudden changes to speed & latency.....why?

We can't influence the Fibre DLM.  It's looking at the errors/stability of your line and making its own decisions.  Perhaps you were on a threshold and the maintenance disconnection triggered it, but because your line was stable for that whole period, the next disconnection let the DLM relax a bit Smiley
