Sudden (but consistent) speed drop 19 July on - anyone else?

Speed dropped first thing yesterday morning from around 3.5mbps, where it was the day before and had been for months, to 2.5mbps, and has stayed at 2.5 since then.
No logical explanation that I can think of - anybody else having a similar problem?

Please follow the speed issues guidance - link below.
Your description somewhat suggests you had a resynch at a lower speed.  You need to gather information to determine why.

Re: Sudden (but consistent) speed drop 19 July on - anyone else?

Your line has become banded to between 1 and 3mbps.
It looks like this has happened due to errors on the line.
I can reset it however ideally we need to track down what's causing the errors.

I've put that through, should happen in the next 30 minutes or so.

Your line is now synced at 3964, giving a profile of 3400. Can you log in to your router and do a single disconnect/reconnect and you should see an increase.

3.2mbps now (back to where it was).  May not sound much, but it's 30% faster than it has been for the last couple of days!
Your help with this is very much appreciated - thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to sort it out.  Smiley

Sadly, it's dropped back down to 2.5mbps again today.  Sad

Perhaps go back to what Townman said - post your router stats and speed at PN -link at bottom of post.

If a line has become banded, there is not much point unbanding it unless the reason for banding has been identified and fixed.  Please follow the guidance in the speed issues thread or raise a broadband fault report - links below will help you.

About 3.6km according to SamKnows.

Re: Sudden (but consistent) speed drop 19 July on - anyone else?

Something does not stack up here.  The attenuation figure does not correlate with the Sam knows distance (is that as the crow flies or by road?), the synch speed is far higher than what that attenuation should deliver and the SNRM figure is a bit odd.
Is the router in the master socket?
What router is it?  Do you have another you can try?
Is there any noise on the line?  Dial 17070 option 2.
Please run through the bb fault reporter - link below.
