Streaming from laptop to tv issue

If I wasted some of your time, those of you who chipped in, my apologies. Sorry RR, the psu had not occurred to me, as it works fine in all other circumstances and has done for maybe a year now and I hadn't thought of switching the power plan down to test the connection :-[. Yes, Penfold, it was a mid-price cheapey(what was that about you get what you pay for?) and at last a friend turned up with their laptop which worked fine.
