Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

My ADSL line finishes its 10 day training period today, but is still running at a very odd 2.4 Mbit/second
Here are the line/router stats (Down/Up):
Sync speed 8128 kbit /448 kbit
line attenuation: 3.5 dB / 2.5 dB (its a very short line)
Noise margin 14.8 dB / 23 d/B
The BT wholesale speedtester bring back the following information:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.41 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6.5 Mbps

Is there any reason why my connection isn't reaching the IP profile set for it? Will it get better now that training is over?

What is your current line speed in the plusnet member centre?

Re: Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

That needs fixing - a phone call will be the quickest as it won't change by itself as there is very unlikely to be a delta report from the exchange
Basically ask for the Plusnet profile to be changed to match the BT profile
One that is done you may need to disconnect/connect via the router interface http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/bb/?be=0&l0=2&l1=-1 to make it effective

Re: Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

Thanks for the info. The BT profile is a bit low IMO considering the quality of the line, would they be able to fix that too?

Re: Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

not easily
that should sort itself out within 3 or 4 days but if it doesn't then post on here and the team on here will be able to get it fixed
I have assumed that 21CN isn't available at your exchange - this will check http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/

Re: Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

I've updated the Speed Profile for you. You may need to log into your router and press the 'Disconnect' and 'Connect' button for the changes to take effect.

No, our exchange is still on 8mbit ADSL max. Fibre is going in this year however.

Re: Strange BT wholesale Speed Test Data

I checked the speeds after I returned home and restarted the router. We're up to a nice steady 6mbit. I'll let the line train for a while longer before chasing a DLM profile jump up to 7.15.
