Steam Down?

Good morning all, is anybody else having issues with Steam this morning?
The site is OK if I use a remote server, but I can not get to it from my Plusnet connection. Problem at BT?

Can anything be done?

Re: Steam Down?

Having the same problem since last night. Been away since Thursday but when i logged in last night first steam prompted me for username and password which it does not do usually.
Then when I clicked on either Deux Ex or Space marine I get a window saying Completing Updates. It sticks at 2% on both and does not proceed.
Weirdly I can connect and play some games (Dead Island for 1) but cannot connect to the steam forums either.

Re: Steam Down?

I'm also affected, I'm in the West Midlands and routed on the same path as you.
Can't access the Steam forums, the store and games like Human Revolution aren't working, I think because they can't connect to the DRM servers.

Re: Steam Down?

Thanks for confirming that Oldjim
I changed to a different gateway (Disconnected and reconnected in the routers configuration screen)
And now am on thn-ag1 and Steam is working again  :).
As you say its a different routing.
Hopefully Somebody at plusnet will pick this up and get it fixed so that others don't suffer the same problem. I would imagine it is causing other issues as well not just steam.
But for now those that have the problem (and read this forum) can fix it by Gateway Hopping!

Re: Steam Down?

Seems they have changed the routing to use multi transit hosts to USA and its affecting gaming, speed and packet loss issues if its via BT.

Routing will indeed be different based on gateway, it may also be different from one minute to the next on a single gateway (though not likely to flip too often). This is the nature of our core network between three sites and the connectivity available from there.

Re: Steam Down?

Ah, wondered what was happening - I was getting random disconnects and connection interrupts on Black Ops all weekend, was a pain in the proverbials. Hopefully it'll all get sorted soon but it does seem to be a steam side issue 😕

Re: Steam Down?

This seems to be a widespread problem.
Over at the BT forum, it's thought to be something to do with BT's network:
http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/BT-vs-Steam/td-p/292193
On the overclockers forum, more and more people are discovering they have a problem with steam:

Edit: forgot to add. I'm having the problem too, on both ptn-ag01 and ag04.
