Std Broadband Speed Suddenly slow today

@plusnet Support,

I have found that my bb speed has suddenly dropped to a crawling speed.  I have not had any disconnections for last nine days.

Is there an issue currently in my area?

Will appreciate your response.

Many regards,

Chandu.

Re: Std Broadband Speed Suddenly slow today

Hi @chandu,

I'm sorry that you've been experiencing poor broadband speeds and for any inconvenience that this is causing you.

I've tested your line and the test indicates that your line is currently syncing at 2.5mbps, which is within the line's estimates of 1-3mbps. However, there are a number of performance errors on the line and these will be restricting the speed and performance of the connection on your side:

xDSL Status Check
Circuit ID: CBUKXXXXXXXXX Service ID: BBEUXXXXXXXXX
Telephone NO.: NA Test Executed On: 14-12-2018 09:43:41
xDSL Status Test Summary
Sync Status: Circuit In Sync
General Information
NTE Status:   NTE Power Status: Unknown Bypass Status:

  Upstream DSL Link Information Downstream DSL Link Information
Loop Loss: 38.6 59.5
SNR Margin: 5.9 6.5
Errored Seconds: 2 5
HEC Errors: 0
Cell Count: 320 2439
Speed: 860 2510

Maximum Stable Rate (KBPS): 2272 Fault Threshold Rate (KBPS): 1817
Mean Time Between Retrains (Seconds): 86400 Mean Time Between Errors Upstream (Seconds): 1734
Indicative Line Quality: A Mean Time Between Errors Downstream (Seconds): 36

MTBR_GREEN: MTBE_GREEN:

It appears that the performance errors may be due to a setting being incorrect. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) is too low for the length of your line. The SNR helps the line to remain stable and unaffected by noise or interference on the line. The higher the setting for SNR, the higher the level of noise can be tolerated.

The SNR for your line was set too low for the amount of interference we'd expect to see, so by increasing this we expect the connection to now stabilise and for the information to be received without interference.

Please monitor the connection over the next couple of days, if this has not resolved the issue, we will then need to inspect your line in closer detail. We start this process by first performing some checks within the house to rule out equipment and wiring that may cause the problem followed by raising this as a fault so that this may be investigated further. You can start this process here. If you get back in touch on here once you've done this, we'll pick this back up and progress this further for you.

Re: Std Broadband Speed Suddenly slow today

@EmilyD,

Thanks for your prompt response.

As suggested, I shall monitor the speed for a few days and will inform of my observations.

I noticed that PlusNet pages tend to take longer than some other web pages (e.g. Talk Talk's Pages tend to load much quicker).  Any explanations on this?

Many regards,

Chandu.
