Static IP address

Is it possible for a static IP address to clash with a previous IP address before I purchased the static - all routers etc on setups are showing old IP address.

We are getting a new router - the one we have is quite old.  We will see if this fixes the issues - I would ike to thak you for taking the time to reply to my question. Cool_smiley
