Spending a small fortune on Broadband

Hi,
I switched to plusnet, because i thought it would be cheaper. However, I'm currently spending an absolute fortune approx 40 pounds a month with line rental and telephone (tele bill not high). I watch a lot of stuff on bbc iplayer, is there a cheaper package i can go for- i'm on the select ur own package thing.
thanks

Re: Spending a small fortune on Broadband

According to the Plusnet Usage Calculator, BBCiPlayer will stream at around 250MB per hour.
The usage calculator can be found here : http://www.mybroadbandusage.co.uk/usage_calculator.html

jim, yes that would be a very good idea. For some reason, though, i had in mind that it's 1 year contract though and I didn't want that.

I think you're only tied into the 12 months if you opt for the free router.

So it's still a monthly thing then?

Re: Spending a small fortune on Broadband

Nope, already on 12 month contract for BBYW1, unless you upgraded from another PN product. Upgrade won't usually make any difference. Jameseh can tell you, he's floating around here somewhere (being very quiet!).
Edit: well he was, gone now Roll_eyes

Re: Spending a small fortune on Broadband

Yup. I've just checked and the only thing that would tie you in for 12 months would be a package with new hardware.

UM, there's the matter of the connection fee, depends, as I've already said.

Re: Spending a small fortune on Broadband

I'm confused, so if i've been a PN customer for 12 months, will i be tied in for 12 months if I upgrade?
I just did the maths....15.99 and 10 and another 10 say for calls and  it's 35 pounds, not actually a terribly good deal considering the deals around for 12 month contracts...

From the Plusnet member centre. http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/broadband_your_way/info.shtml#16

16. Can I swap between Broadband Your Way options?
Yes, at any time. Please note, that you can only swap to a cheaper Broadband Your Way option within the first 12 months of your contract if you agree to the same minimum spend. If you don't want to agree to this you'll need to pay any deferred fees before swapping options.

As you are going up the way then there isn't a problem with the 12 month contract. (The package comparisons do not include added usage.)

Re: Spending a small fortune on Broadband

Ur, £14.99 for BBYW2, If I'm not mistaken you're only tied in for the rest of the original 12 months. What type of phone calls do you make, consider Anytime+ instead of Evening and Weekends?
