Was reading on here today, someone, not a happy bunny had a bit of a winge and they were off.
Was interested to see they included a Speedtest thingy, Speedtest.net,(I think they were getting 9Mgs + from Sky.)
Anyway Ive used Broadband Speed checker.co since Ive been on here. Been here less then 10 days and I see my speed has gone up,maybe 20% in that time.
THis afternoon used Speedtest.net,as mentioned above and I see they were giving me readings nearly DOUBLE what Broadbandspeedchecker.co .........were. So the $64000 question,is,how accurate are these online BBand speed checkers.
IF these groupswere doing Opinion Polls, one of them might well be saying, that the Monster Raving Loony Party, would get enough seats to form the next Govenment

The more bandwidth your line is capable off the more likely in my opion that speedtests will give a dodgey result now and then.
It's possable your line had a low sync event and so your line profile was set low and after 3 days your profiles upped them selfs to come in line with your sync speed and hence the increase in your speed test results
bt profile http://www.speedtester.bt.com/
plusnet profile https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
The PN profile will follow any changes in your BT one within 12hours, your BT one is set by what sync speed your connected at (have a look on this site tells you alot about adsl, this link takes you to the section on line profiles http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm#IP_and_bRAS_profiles )
Following tests done on my PO line, details of its line length and profile in my sig below

one of the mods will move the thread to a diffrent section if they feel it needs to be there, no biggy for them and gets them out the chit chat section for a minute or 2

Ok,well, perhaps I didn't make my point very well...........I'm not bothered about the speed,it seems to go allright, thats the main thing.............
The thing IS How spot on are these Speed Testing Web sites ? Viz,5 mins ago,Broadbandspchcker says 3.4Mps..............3 mins agoSpeedtester.Net says 4.7Mps.................in oither words a 50-60% difference....hence my reference to the Monster Raving Looney Party coming up trumps on May 6th
