My speeds have dropped through the floor since yesterday afternoon and I would like some assistance please.
The tests:
1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
0.16 Mbps

0 Mbps 4 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.16 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.35 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.29 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.29Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps

The test result has indicated that you should contact your ISP for further assistance.

High-speed Broadband
Estimated line speed:
Not recorded (service activated before we introduced estimates).

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi, sorry, I forgot to add, the strange thing is that my ping seems to be ok and I am getting the same ping when gaming as normal.  It is just downloading and web browsing which is really bad.  The upload speed seems the same.

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Current line speed needs updating - should be a rep along soon to fix that.
In the meantime do you know of any reason why you should have had such a low sync event and can you post the stats from your router - speeds, noise margin and attenuation so we can see if something is still not as it should be
Note that your upstream speed result is also low - router stats may point to something wrong there as well

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Of course, the details are as follows -
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2663 kbps 443 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.0 db 34.5 db
Noise Margin 12.9 db 18.8 db
I am unaware why anything has changed as have not changed any settings.  Please note that my router is a Netgear DG834PN.

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

That is an amazingly good sync speed for a 59dB attenuation and 12dB default noise margin
Unless Plusnet come up with some more information it is just a case of waiting until they correct the Current Line Speed

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

It is possibly mis-reporting though the router is a good one and I am using 'DG Team' firmware which is unofficial, but far superior.

Do you know how long it is likely to take to correct the line speed?  I work from home occasionally, like today, and it is really causing me problems.
Many thanks.

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi there,
From checking your connection records:
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image1355756319597.png"/>
Your speed profile is showing as 250k/s on the side we get our profile adjustments from, and that was updated yesterday - I'm afraid a consistency check shows it across both systems at the exchange so if you run another BT speed test I'm afraid it'll confirm the same thing.
If you stay connected for another couple of days I'd expect that to update, if it hasn't we can run an SNR reset and let the line retrain which I think would be better than raising a fault at this stage. If it drops more though then a fault is definitely the way forward.
Are those drops on the Sunday down to you rebooting or disconnecting the router at all, or did you notice the connection dropping?

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi  I only rebooted the router on Sunday due to the speeds dropping.  It has been crawling since yesterday afternoon.  If you can run the SNR test I would be most grateful.  I will make sure it is not rebooted for the next few days.  I assume there is no way to speed it up generally is there, as it quite a pain at times, especially when downloaded large files.
Many thanks.

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi there,
I'm afraid we can't reset the SNR until we're sure that the line is stable, i.e. has been connected solidly for around 72 hours as I said above. We'd be more than happy to do so once that's the case, we'll keep an eye on this for you and let you know.

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi.  It has been around 72 hours now and my speeds are still crawling.  Here is a BT Speedtest taken just now -

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
0.17 Mbps

0 Mbps 4 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.17 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.35 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.35 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.35Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps

The test result has indicated that you should contact your ISP for further assistance.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I require assistance as soon as possible as I cannot work with these speeds any more.
Many thanks

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi there,
According to the profiles showing on your account, yours was upped to 2300 as of around 7.30 this morning - if the speeds haven't improved please disconnect via the router interface then reboot the router to see if that sorts things?

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi Matt
Looks like we are back in business so many thanks.
I don't know if this the right place to ask, but are your contracts transferable between properties as I am mulling over fiber, but am moving within the next few months?

Re: Speeds really slow since yesterday

Hi there,
Yes you can - bear in mind though that if the new property isn't in a fibre enabled area you'll have to move to ADSL. On the bright side though if that happens (you move from a fibre enabled area with a fibre contract into an area that has only ADSL) the contract will continue where it left off on the new product.
If fibre is enabled there things would continue as they were Smiley
