I'm just re-testing the line now to see if there has been any changes. Sync and banding remains the same as does the CLT.
Assuming the light is still unplugged, we need to go ahead with the engineer which I'll contact bluesamboy about today.

I'll update this after the engineer has been.
What's annoying is someone else who is on the same cab and lives further away gets full sync speed of 18, the lucky man! although he is in the newly built part.

Just a clarification, just because your upload speed has gone up unfortunately doesn't mean your line "can do it". The Upstream part of the connection uses much lower frequencies than the Downstream, so if the line is poor/faulty and the higher frequencies get affected, then the Downstream speed will be slower.

He was much better than the last guy he agreed the line seemed to be of good quality but he wasn't happy with the speed. He said there had been problems with the cabinet so maybe I'd been put on a poor line. He left and did some work at the cabent or exchange fixed it. Very heppy as long as it stays like that of course.

Quote from: bluesamboy DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.1
Last time your line rate went down to 8Mb, it had ended up on ADSL1 (indicated by the G.992.1), and that has happened again looking at your screenshot from today. I don't know exactly why that would happen, but I guess it must be some problem at your exchange, and I doubt there's anything you can do to fix it on your end. It needs to be on ADSL2+ (G.992.5) for the 17Mb line rate.
