Re: Speeds not very good

Sadly not.
I'm just re-testing the line now to see if there has been any changes. Sync and banding remains the same as does the CLT.
Assuming the light is still unplugged, we need to go ahead with the engineer which I'll contact bluesamboy about today.

Re: Speeds not very good

Thanks Tony,
I'll update this after the engineer has been.
What's annoying is someone else who is on the same cab and lives further away gets full sync speed of 18, the lucky man!  Wink although he is in the newly built part.

Re: Speeds not very good

Well my upload has improved! But my d/l has gone down. 😞 so my line can do it! I really hope the engineer helps! What I do find interesting is my uptime,  I have not done anything to my router for days now!

Re: Speeds not very good

The uptime corresponds with a disconnection we can see just before 3pm. I see there's an engineer appointment booked, so it'll be worthwhile having another line test after this goes ahead.

Re: Speeds not very good

@bluesamboy
Just a clarification, just because your upload speed has gone up unfortunately doesn't mean your line "can do it". The Upstream part of the connection uses much lower frequencies than the Downstream, so if the line is poor/faulty and the higher frequencies get affected, then the Downstream speed will be slower.

Engineer has just left and I'm so disappointed in the marginal speed difference Wink

He was much better than the last guy he agreed the line seemed to be of good quality but he wasn't happy with the speed. He said there had been problems with the cabinet so maybe I'd been put on a poor line. He left and did some work at the cabent or exchange fixed it. Very heppy as long as it stays like that of course.

Re: Speeds not very good

Woah, nice increase Smiley From just over 8Mb on the stats from the previous page to 17.6 this time around. That sync speed will give you a line profile of 15500, so I'm just going to update that now for you.

Yeh, that's more like it, and you put up with that rubbish all that time with Sky, look what happens when  you come to a decent provider  Wink - even if they have other issues we could break their arms about Grin

Last time your line rate went down to 8Mb, it had ended up on ADSL1 (indicated by the G.992.1), and that has happened again looking at your screenshot from today. I don't know exactly why that would happen, but I guess it must be some problem at your exchange, and I doubt there's anything you can do to fix it on your end. It needs to be on ADSL2+ (G.992.5) for the 17Mb line rate.

Re: Speeds not very good

bluesamboy, it looks as though the disconnect might have been caused by the change in Upstream sync speed from 888 to 1152. Taking note of ejs comment, it might still be worth trying one resync using the disconnect method and stay off for 10 minutes.
When you come back, post the stats again.

Re: Speeds not very good

The Line card has to be faulty IMHO, the Upstream speed has gone back to 888. Still you have the DS speed for the time being  Wink
