Hi, I recently joined Plusnet from O2/BE roughly 2 weeks ago and so far its been a bumpy ride. At the moment everything that was a major issue to start off with seems to have been fixed (for now anyway) but what I'm curious about is why my download speeds are fluctuating a lot, as in downloading a game on steam or downloading a file directly from an ftp the speeds are not "stable." Before we moved over I was getting at least a stablish download of 1.2Mb/s and that would only drop by 0.1/2 randomly whereas with Plusnet at the moment it fluctuates constantly from 1.0Mb/s down to 250kb/s and then just carries on like a rollercoaster. It's been like this since day 1, I know the first 10 days its finding the best for the line but that has passed and was expecting at least more stability.
Taken from the router:
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.212 / 11.454 (Occasionally goes to 13k or down to 10k)
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 23,6 / 39,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,4 / 4,9
Member Centre:
Estimated line speed:
6Mb (This may vary between 4Mb and 8Mb) - Checked on 2013-10-02 18:59:05
Current line speed:
9.5 Mb
BTW Performance Test:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 7.45 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 10.1 Mbps
If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CJV,
Welcome to the community forum and sorry to hear about the issue you've been having. The diagnostics I've just been running don't indicate any obvious issues but I'd still advise raising this with us formally which you can do at http://faults.plus.net
Roughly how often do you see this fluctuate?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
Nearly all day long, I'll check a few things tonight to see if it's just during the daytime and evening. Just seems incredibly inconsistent from what we had before hence the concern.

Ill do the faults thing tomorrow but I thought I'd update this... Currently the speeds are pretty low, sitting around 300kbs mostly, did a couple of speedtests which gave the following.
Speedtest Results:
Thinkbroadband Results:
and a random download on steam with the graph:

There's no throttling going on as you're on unlimited.
I think the raising a fault is going to be the best route to take.
