I have done a few speed tests at various times over the last few days using the BT tester and Plusnets tester. The result below from BT tester is about the same has all the other results, but with a throughput speed of 8000 I was expecting a bit more than this, or is this about right?. The max I have achieved is just short of 6500.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6280 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 2000-7150 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 8000 Kbps
.

Hi BLINDPEW,
That doesn't look too bad to be honest. What do you get at mybroadbandspeed.co.uk? Also, was anything else running on the computer at the time you were doing the speed test, in particular anything downloading?

I've tried wireless and wired get same speed with both. There was nothing else downloading while I was running tests. I was getting 6000 when my profile was 6500. So you can see where I'm coming from. My profile goes up 1500 from 6500 to 8000 but my speed has only gone up by a max of 500.

Does 'Current line speed' in the member centre here also say 8000kbps?

Hi BLINDPEW,
I'm just running a consistency check test now to see if there's some problem with profiles across the BT equipment, as that's my first thought. We'll see what happens when that comes back, I'll update shortly.

Hmmm, consistency check passes and the profile is set at 8000 everywhere I can see it - MSAN, BRAS and PN profile as well as that reported by Actuate and a BT line test. It might therefore be worth having a look at your MTU settings perhaps - there's some information on that here: http://community.plus.net/library/settings/guide-to-rwin-mtu/
