Speed problems - upload higher than download

So I'm not the most technical person on here but I'm concerned about the speeds of my wifi.
Plusnet says I should be getting a 76Mbps speed on my line but in terms of my wifi I'm not getting anywhere near it.
My phone is capable of getting 10Mbps download speeds on my mobile network - when I put wifi on it's suggesting I get 14.65Mbps and 17.77Mbps upload speeds. Surely download should smaller than the upload? Shouldn't they both be faster? My phone and laptop are the only two devices using wifi.

Re: Speed problems - upload higher than download

Are the phone and laptop both 802.11n capable? If either is not the router will revert to 802.11g which is obviously much slower.

Re: Speed problems - upload higher than download

Both the laptop and my Samsung S4 are wireless 'N'. The speed on my phone increased slightly when my laptop went offline, but it's still not reeping the benefits of 70Mbps+ speeds.

Re: Speed problems - upload higher than download

Is the router set to use those speeds? I believe it's set to use both G and N by default, perhaps if you log in to the router and change it to just use N (assuming all devices that connect are capable - if you change it and get something that doesn't that'll be why) that might well help?

I'm guessing so, this is what Plusnet provided me with late last year for fibre optic broadband Smiley
I will give that a try!

This can't be done on the TG582!
@readjono Have you tried setting different channel numbers for the wireless? (Channel selection is auto by default)

Re: Speed problems - upload higher than download

There's some info on telnetting in here:

Hope that helps, sorry about the misinformation!
