Speed problems, down to 138kbps

My speed has died and upon doing your speed test its is giving me these results:-
Today 17:29  138 kbps (17.3kB/s)  295 kbps (36.9kB/s)
can you please take a look and sort for me?

Re: Speed problems, down to 138kbps

Download speedachieved during the test was - 121 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3328 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
That is the result from the BT Speedtester.  As you can see its saying the line profile is down to 135, can you please sort this out for me?
Upon doing the Kitz tester, I should be looking at a profile of around 4000.

You can try connecting the router directly into the test socket to eliminate interference from house wiring.

Re: Speed problems, down to 138kbps

Thanks for the suggestion, have already tried that, I live in a new self-build house which is less than 4 months old, of which I myslef did the wiring so I know no problems exist there.  The router is plugged into the main socket, and as you suggested I have tried directly into the test socket but the symptoms persist.  The profile on my line as been lowered to 135, so I need someone to re-adjust that.  Cheers for the help tho.

Re: Speed problems, down to 138kbps

Unfortunately that isn't possible
You can only wait for the automatic system in the exchange to do it's stuff
Of more concern is why your sync rate dropped to such a low level as to cripple the IP profile
Is it possible that something was plugged in without a filter such as a Sky box
The fact that something has caused the automatic system to raise the default noise margin to 12dB is a pointer to something being wrong.
You say that you did the wiring - I assume that includes any extension wiring from the master socket which you would have attached to the removable front plate of the socket. If so did you only connect wires to connections 2 and 5.
You say that you tried the test socket which should isolate every other phone socket in the house. However that won't increase the IP profile it will just, hopefully, allow you to see if the low sync happens again with your home wiring removed from the picture

Re: Speed problems, down to 138kbps

There has been no changes at all to anything, i.e no introduction of any new equipment like sky boxes etc.  The only possible problem I can think of was that there has been intermittent problems with our electricity supply, hence re-setting the router a few times.  I can only guess this has caused the line to lower the profile right down to this unusuable speed.

Yep only connected up the required wires, didnt use the bell wire etc.  This drop in speed has only occured overnight, nothing at all has been changed to my setup.

Any noise on the line?  You can dial 17070 then option 2 for the BT quiet line test.

Nope, there does not appear to be any noise on the line after carrying out the quiet line test.  Thankyou for your suggestion tho.

This could be the problem.

To be honest this is the only thing I can think of, I guess the next stage would be for someone to reset my line and re-enter the learning period?

Re: Speed problems, down to 138kbps

I would try keep your router plugged on 24/7 and your IP Profile should go back up providing all Is well In over the next few days, If you do have to reboot do It between 10am/3pm.
