Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Overnight my BB speed has dropped from about 1.8Mb to about 0.3Mb.
There's an announcement on the service status [here http://portal.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2 ] about changes made last night. Looking at a traceroute from my machine I see that traffic is being routed though one of the gateways mentioned [ptn-ag02].
Any idea what's going on, do I need to raise a fault or is this work in progress?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Is it your sync speed or download speed.
If download try a disconnect/reconnect using the router interface

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

It's the download speed, the sync speed is 2433 kbps
Already tried a disconnect/reconnect: no change.

Same here, Sync still at 4768 snr 9.0 but  dreadfully slow downloads, speedtest showing 500 to 700 k  usually 3,6 Mb !
Ip profile  is 4000. I am on payg with no restrictions . Any one know what is going on ?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Tried rebooting the router, d/l speed's fallen to 249Kbps now!
How do you tell what IP profile you're on?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Same here (I have raised a ticket and posted just now to this forum).
Download speed suddenly dropped to around 0.3 MB on night of 2/3 Feb.
BT speed test reports 7058 Kbps download speed achieved.

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Ran the BT speed test ....
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1853 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 800-2000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 15.04:25.34:59.62 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
--- ALso ---
Note: An Upstream test was not conducted on this line due to a technical issue. If your concern is related to upstream performance then please retry the performance test again in 1 hours time.

So what does that mean?
I'm guessing that it means my line is fine [1.8 Mb is what I expect, I'm along way from the exchange] and the problem is somewhere within the plusnet network?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Further to my earlier post on this issue, speed has now droped further and getting almost like dial up !
Router stats and ip profile still fine.
Is this just affectimg freeonline .net accounts which were put on the new pipes last night ?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Something very odd appears to be going on re this issue.
Bt speedtester shows normal download speeds and line parameters, but, simultaneous plusnet speed tests show extremely low speeds (around 500k)
and very slow internet access confirms this .
Can anyone from Plusnet shed any light on this ?
I have tried disconnect and reconnect with no change.
For info here is the latest BT test.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3436 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4832 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4000 Kbps
Any suggestions  greatly appreciated

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Hi all,
Our network team are investigating the cause of these issues, I've asked one of my team to do some additional dial-testing from here so we can try to replicate the issue.

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

There seem to be quite a few of us having this problem. I just posted the following on another thread:
This and similar posts make interesting reading. My speed has dropped to 200/300kbps today. I have raised a ticket with plusnet (#39541955) but both people I have spoken to did not mention any activity by plusnet as a possible cause. I was asked to download Wireshark and use that but as my download is so slow I couldn't download it.. The plusnet speedtests are all consistent at about 300 but when I ran speedtester.bt both results showed download speeds of about 5300. I am currently waiting to hear back from plusnet. So what is going on?

Re: Speed plummeted overnight: 21CN/IPSC work?

Thanks, Chris, for taking an interest in this issue
Heres hoping that the problem can be fixed  soon,as in my case the  download speed is currently slower than the upload  ( The plusnet speedchecker graph has crossed over !!)
I guess this must be the same for others experiencing this problem.. This naturally  results in a lot of  websites being virtually unusable.
Looking forward to a speedy resolution.
Thanks,
edgeways..

Hey guys, can you try rebooting your routers?  We've made some changes.
