Speed issues with Utorrent

I am signed up to Plusnet Unlimited Fibre. According to Speed checkers I only have a download speed of 6mbps on a wireless connection. But when I use Utorrent I seemed to be capped at 750-800kbps. I have tried fiddling with the settings on utorrent with no luck. When I first started using PN fibre I was downloading at 1.5-2MBPS.
Once I start downloading anything it also affects my TV which is also connected to the internet (but is not streaming).
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

Can you try it via a wired connection to see if there is an improvement?

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

What speed do you have your Utorrent upload limited to?

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

My ethernet speed still max's out at 700kbps. But I have looked on my task manager and it says that Utorrent is receiving 7+MBps of bandwidth both with wired and wireless connection.
So where is all of the extra bandwidth going?
I have no maximum speed set on utorrent

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

I now believe that it is my mistake. I did not realise that there was a difference between KB/s and KBPS. So my 6.8MBPS converts into roughly 700kbps on uTorrent.
Although I am not happy that I am paying for Fibre optic speeds and only getting this. But thats another battle with plusnet......... at this rate I will be buying xmas presents for the BT engineers as I have seen them more than some of my family in the last few months

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

You haven't got the acronyms quite right:
Kbps is thousand bits per second
KBps is thousand bytes per second
If you make sure you use the right acronym it will help us understand what you are saying. Speed tests and the Plusnet member centre will report Kbps, software such as Utorrent will report KBps.
What speed do you get on a wired connection?
Regarding the Utorrent affecting the TV - have you limited the Utorrent upload speed? If you haven't it will cause issues.

Re: Speed issues with Utorrent

Yeah I now realise my mistake. My wired speed is still the same as wifi.
