Re: Back to terrible speeds.

If you go to the router page showing that information there should be a Details menu item near the top-right of the window.
Clicking that should take you to expanded information which includes Line Attenuation and SN Margin. These are needed to get a proper understanding of your line's capability.
Direct link to that information
As an example the information shown for my connection is as follows:
DSL Connection
Link Information

Uptime: 133 days, 17:30:55
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 15.0 / 31.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.0 / 10.0

So your on ADSL Max (20CN)
Did the BTW site make no mention of ADSL2+
Can always double check your exchange  Broadband availability  on Sam's site.

Re: Back to terrible speeds.

Hi dhep1957,
Your line seems stable now. The SNR is 16dB, I'll reset this to 6dB if you like which will increase the sync rate and your profile should follow.

Re: Back to terrible speeds.

BT Wholesale informationADSL status: Enabled as of 26/11/2003
ADSL Max status: Enabled as of 31/03/2006
SDSL status: Not available
21CN WBC status: RFS date set : 31/05/2011
FTTC status: Not available
JoJo
Is that good?  If so what speed should I expect, and why has it taken FOUR months to sort out?

Re: Back to terrible speeds.

For every +/- 3dB of SNR expect 800Kbps
Stick your line stats  this calc to show the estimation of your maximum rate adaptive adsl speed.
http://www.farina1.com/adsl/
or Kitz calc thats based on the standard 6dB SNR
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
At a guess, once  things have reset,  your snyc speed  will be at the top of the 8128Kbps with a put through profile of 7150Kbps.
Once ADSL2+ is activated from June next year,  you'll go  quicker .

Re: Back to terrible speeds.

Sounds good, but when.
So you think ignoring me and I will go away WRONG!!!
Date 17/12/10 12:43:10
Speed Down 4370.67 Kbps ( 4.3 Mbps )
Speed Up 374.55 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )
Port 8095
Server speedtest1.thinkbroadband.com
I tried both yours but neither would work.
How much will it cost to get out of this crap contract obviously I will get this back through the Small Claims Court.
This must be a scam or a really bad company, just look at ALL the slow connections or line drop posts.
I think FOUR months is enough now, just send my MAC!

Re: Back to terrible speeds.

The above links I posted are for calculating your lines  maximum rate adaptive adsl speed. They are not put through speed test.
That speed test you posted is only an snap shot indication of your put through speeds.
You need to post the full router  stats as David highlighted in post

[Moderator's note by Jim (Oldjim)  avoidance of swear filter removed ]

Its mainly due  lack of understanding on how ADSL technology works & its back-end delivery support system operated by BT.
Your exchange only has ADSL 20CN at the moment.
So whichever ISP you chose Plusnet, O2 Access or  someone else, you'll still be under BT's Line managment systems.
If the problems are not understood & dealt  with now they will follow you.
The CS people on here will bend over backward to correct faults once identified. Its worth thinking about.
02 Access is not all a bed of roses , see their forum & how long an SNR reset would have taken.

I'm sorry if you think you've been ignored. Your last post was at last night at 19.48 so we won't have answered that until today. I can do that reset for you and see if that has the desired effect.
