Speed halved in the last couple of days

Hello

My broadband speed has virtually halved in the last couple of days. I normally get between 10-11 Mbps.

My Billion router has been disconnecting and getting slower each time.

I have run the various tests and I am using a proper ADSL faceplate.

I have had good speeds for the last few years so I'm not sure why this is happening.

I have attached screenshots of the test results.

Hope you can help!

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

@coolyazz1 Welcome to the forum.

The figures you have posted say you are getting more than your profile on the BT test, and your router is also reporting a connection speed above that.

Where did 'Test01' come from?

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

Hi. Test01 came from the basic BT wholesale speedtest. This the speed I am getting now, which almost half what I normally get.

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

OK - I assume these were all run consecutively?

Something doesn't look right, but I would like a second opinion.

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

Yes.

Test 01 BT Wholesale

Test02 The advanced BT test

Test03 my router stats

This started a couple of days ago with a disconnect and the router struggled repeatedly to reconnect for about 10-15 mins. When it finally connected, I got the slower speed.

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

OK - I think Wink

Can you run the tests/give the router stats again, please - preferably mid-morning tomorrow?

Hi John,

You are not wrong - something is indeed "strange" here...

The Test 1 DS (Data) speed is well in line with the IP profile reported in Test 2, which is aligned to the reported synch speed in Test 3

HOWEVER the BT reported data speed in Test 2 is way above the synch speed reported in Test 3 and the IP profile in Test 2 ... odd to say the least ... I wonder what the PN IP profile is set to?

As suggested we could of with seeing a full set of concurrent stats please...

Please use the following links to check the services available and their estimated speeds. From the first link, please record and report back the distance from the exchange. The second link advises of which fibre services (if any) are available on your line and their anticipated speed.

Please post your router stats; for PN TG582n and 2704n routers use the buttons below, for other routers look at the Kitz link.

Also run a BT Wholesale speed test (ideally using an Ethernet wired PC with the WiFi turned off) then run the further diagnostics and post the results here. DO NOT REBOOT the router!

Also find your CURRENT SPEED (PlusNet line profile) from the PlusNet user portal - you will need to log in.

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

It looks like your speeds have been restricted by DLM as your current profile is "WBC 4M - 9M Medium delay (INP 2) 6dB Downstream, UC Low delay (INP 0) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)" and your syncing at around 7mbps.

If you've gone through all the checks here if you haven't done so already. If that doesn't make any difference I'd raise a fault here

Re: Speed halved in the last couple of days

Hi. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

I have just run the tests again as attached  - all run one after the other.

I am now syncing at roughly just over half what I was getting this time last week.

Incidentally, the line went down again at approx 9.45am this morning.

I'll raise a fault if you still suggest it.

I've raised a fault.

The line just went down again at approx 11.05am.
