Speed Faults

It surly is not up to the customers to sort these faults, not everyone is confident enough to get the information, if it was 1 or 2 maybe, but most topics on here are about the same problems, plusnet should get their act together.

Re: Speed Faults

But a large proportion of the posters on here are chasing speeds above the estimated or techhead gamers worried about their kill ratios  Wink

Re: Speed Faults

@dhep1
Unfortunately it isn't as simple as us flicking a switch to resolve all the speed issues. I really wish it was!
Speed problems can be caused by a huge range of factors including damage to the physical cables, congestion at the exchange/backhaul, interference from other devices, poor wireless performance, faulty ethernet cables, incorrect expectations and many many more.

Re: Speed Faults

Mr loftos  rubbish, if I am having to use my mobile phone for a half decent connection the that show how poor plusnet is, if it took an age to load a page I am sure you would not expect a stupid response like that!!!

Re: Speed Faults

In fairness, Plusnet support have been excellent for me, and looking through other posts they do a pretty good job, quickly.
Most people on here have got specific issues that arn't the normal type of internet user. Changing SNR profiles to push their lines, and changing interleaving for gaming.
Generally, i would imaging most DSL users don't pay any attention to their line rate and just use the internet how it comes.

If you are not looking for help, please do not be disparaging towards others trying to offer help.  "Slow" is relative; you have not in anyway quantified the problem - measured as slow against the estimate for your line, or just not as fast as you want it to be irrespective of the physics of your line / environmental conditions?
Chris has explained some of the many factors which impact speed.  You might not like the message but in respect to LINE speed there is nothing provided by PlusNET which impacts LINE speed - that is all down to end user and BTOR equipment.  In examining such issues, it is part of the SERVICE MANAGEMENT process (to avoid significant BTOR charges to you) that PlusNET helps you to ensure that the fault is not in your domain.  If you are prepared to accept the risk of being charged £100+ for a no fault found BTOR call out! then I guess you might choose to place all responsibility on to PlusNet's shoulders.  A little self help goes a long way.

Re: Speed Faults

WOW
Disparage have you read his reply.
FACT I had no problems with taltalk there was a router problem they were supposed to replace a old faulty router that dropped the connection.
I switched to plusnet then my problems started, the game is a simple 'finding objects' pages sometimes take ages to load.
I was with you several years ago when you were part of bt, I had to take you to the ombudsman and got my contract dismissed, found in my favour.
I was assured by your staff that you are much better no, WRONG!
The fact is I am not getting the service I pay for.
This problem is wireless and cable connection and I have to use my mobile phone to run the internen.
I don't know why I am bothering as you will no doubt Censor this AGAIN!!!!
I will not be wasting my time with you anymore I WILL be taking this to the Onbudsman

Re: Speed Faults

We're happy to help investigate any problems with your service, however you haven't reported a fault to us so there is nothing for us to investigate. My earlier post in this thread was intended to give an overview of what can cause speed issues and that there isn't a one size fits all fix. If you'd like us to look into the problems you're having you need to go through the faults process at https://faults.plus.net

Re: Speed Faults

@dhep1 sorry to have upset you but your original post was phrased as a debating point and was extra to the other thread where you have raised a fault. I can't exactly see that you have raised a ticket but assume that you will have.
Anyway I didn't agree with your original premise and was surprised by your sensitivity when I differed.
These fora are a precious things. With the nature of broadband having evolved from geeky open access self help media to mass market product it doesn't always meet everyone's estimations. I applaud Plusnet providing these fora, which are uncensored, where the problems of specialist users and the savvy can be addressed. Often they receive criticism over the forums but I applaud them because hosting the fora is the right thing to do.
Please join in the spirit you will find pleanty of people willing to help if you do
