Re: Speed Dropping Again

Your sync speed has reduced although there's no obvious reason for it. Your DLM profile is still set at 80Mb/s so that isn't causing an issue.
Have you power cycled your modem?
I've also noticed that you've had a few drops recently, have these been initiated by yourself?

Re: Speed Dropping Again

It would be a case of raising a fault ticket and if need be we'll raise this with our suppliers.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Hi there,
It's unlikely given your speed estimate of 54Mb that we could get a fault raised on that basis, however if the line is dropping connection (which it looks like it might be) we could certainly get that sorted out - it could be that causing the profile to drop, so you might get the speed back if the drops can be fixed (assuming they're happening).
It might well be worth a chat with the faults team, if you send the ticket back to them with your comments they'll be able to check up on it and should call to discuss the issues as was attempted yesterday afternoon.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Added further notes to ticket, no response as yet, still syncing at 58.6 even after a reset.
Just a bit disappointed after a constant 78mb sync, the cabinet is only 150 yards down the road and i am close to the exchange, something has certainly been changed..

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Similar problem for me. Openreach have just visited too and surprise surprise, find nothing wrong.
I'd be interested to hear how things go for you with this problem.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

@MwEmpire - Thanks for updating, though it'd make it easier for our faults team to progress if you pointed out (and possibly emphasised) the drops in connection as they may well be the cause of the slowdown, depending on how serious they are and how often they happen.
@zackarydoo - I'm afraid the notes from the engineer visit are not yet available, though we'll keep checking for you and update you when we know more.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Hi Matt, the drops in connection are possibly made be me trying to gain the back the "normal" sync speed, my only concern is the drop in line speed. I understand traffic shaping etc, it just seems a bit unfair my speed has dropped 25%.
I can sense from the other posts that I am not the only one frustrated by a drop in performance, it just seems like the more customers on the line the smaller the bandwidth they achieve, my line can take 78mb easily it just seems like its been stuck low to help others, please correct me if i am wrong, I have been into the fastest available broadband and now Fibre for the last 10 to 15 years and i have experienced the rough with the smooth. Previously I was with BeUnlimited and always had a steady 22mb from a 24mb line which was the best from a non Fibre line.
If there is a fault on the line so be it, but from other peoples posts it just seems too many customers = traffic shaping and throttling the line.
Thanks Mike.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

If the line is slowing due to customers it'll either be a busy gateway (which would show on the graphs we have at http://www.plus.net/support/service/network_performance/broadband_bandwidth_usage.shtml) or it'll be the exchange/cabinet. It certainly won't be down to anything we're doing with our traffic management platform, especially given you're currently on the Unlimited fibre product.
Our team will get back to you regarding the fault as soon as they can.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Still no joy speed sync speed down to 58Mb from 78Mb still no real reason given, will it ever return to my normal 78Mb ?
My connection has dropped a few times is there anything else that could be done ?
My Latency has gone from 6ms to 23ms something has happened, i just can't work out why my line speed would suddenly drop from 78Mb to 58Mb, if it had always been 58Mb I would have been none the wiser.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Same issue here, had to turn modem and router off at the mains and have dropped from 65 to 56 and ping has increased to 14 from 6-7 , I dare not turn it off ever again for fear of worst results

Re: Speed Dropping Again

I suppose its a bit like buying a car that's capable of over 100mph, then after a while it wont go over 70mph, back at the garage they say 70mph is ok but giving no reason for the drop of 30% of its speed.

Re: Speed Dropping Again

Can you check if my DLM Profile is still at 80Mbs, all test come up with 54Mbs, i am correct in saying the DLM will reduce the line speed if it senses the line is unstable.
On my previous Broadband line with BeUnlimited they reduced my SNRM to the lowest setting of 3dB and the line was very stable with no dropouts.
If DLM has set my line speed low can you do a manual reset, i would guess this would also set a low Interleaving as well ?
The Cabinet is only a 100 Yrds  from my house so there should be no issue with that part..
