Speed Dropped

After the initial 10 days I had 40.2 sync speed now I have 35.85
I have had a number of reset of the router (not the fiber modem) as I was doing changes to my LAN
Can this have triggered something in the line management process? Huh

Re: Speed Dropped

Hi Interceptor121,
It is possible that it hasn't helped things if I'm honest. Having said that, if you keep a good, solid connection, the DLM should pick the profiles back so you can get the best speeds possible automatically.

Re: Speed Dropped

Not sure I understand how it would pick up? My experience with DLM is that they always go down from the highest sync speed
So I believe the line needs resetting to go back to normal I am done with the LAN changes

Re: Speed Dropped

I have done some research the router reset does not affect DLM.
The modem has never been switched off there was a power surge some days ago.
I have now switched off and on the modem and the ping has gone from 30 to 15ms I guess that is an improvement
I will check again later what is going on. My phone line comes off a post and is affected by weather and right now is really windy maybe it is as simple as that

Re: Speed Dropped

No that's not quite right.
On FTTC if there are disconnections for whatever the reason, the DLM may alter the profile which can cap the sync speeds you experience. If the DLM see's an improvement on your line, the profile will be lifted, which will allow the sync rate to improve.
Glad that's picked things up for you. I'll write up a guide on how FTTC DLM works in the near future for everyone to have a read.

Re: Speed Dropped

I should have checked before resetting the modem. Now I am rock solid the question is how do I go back to where I was?
Ping is improved but speeds seem to be gone even lower now

Re: Speed Dropped

The best thing you can do at the moment, is to give your line some time.
It could do with a rock solid connection to see if DLM improves the speeds. If the speeds don't improve automatically, we can look at the line, however, speeds are likely to fluctuate a little.

Re: Speed Dropped

That sounds like a good idea, should be enough time for DLM to make the changes it needs to in the meantime too.

Re: Speed Dropped

Hi Chris
Things have not improved in the last week. Can I please request an SNR reset as I have effectively lost 5 Mbit/s?
Thanks

Re: Speed Dropped

Thanks for getting back to me.
If you could raise a fault at http://faults.plus.net and in the very last box where you can add comments, please add a link to this thread and pop a note on to request a DLM Reset and we'll get that arranged for you.

Re: Speed Dropped

It'll take 48-72 hours for the Faults Team to get the ticket picked up and we'll arrange an engineer to go out shortly after.

Re: Speed Dropped

OK I got a text that the ticket is in progress but if an engineer comes at home and finds a fault with my setup I will be charged £60
I do not want anyone to come at home I just want a DLM reset!
