Sony Bravia iPlayer - incorrectly traffic shaped?

Sony rolled out iPlayer to  bravia tvs last week.
I find it runs fine just before 6pm. Last 2 days I've set a high def programme running at 17.50. Buffering begins at 18.01 and from then on the iPLayer is unusable.
iPlayer on the PC is running fine at all times.
Is this yet another traffic signature issue with traffic shaping?
Ticket has been raised #35145514. Not a lot of action yet. Confirmed that pc iplayer traffic is classified as 0x80 using wireshark
Anyone else seeing Bravia iPlayer issues?

I now have a wireshark capture of the incoming traffic to the Sony Bravia iPlayer.
Its HTTP rather than RTMP and is classed as Differentiated Services Field: 0x60.

Can someone Please help me out here? The bandwidth is definitely throttled after 18.00 such that playback is unusable.

Hi there, this is likely to be due to our network being in 'Plan B' at the moment, you can read more about it on this service status.

If it is categorised as 0x60  it should be 0x80 and that isn't anything to do with Plan B

Thanks for that -  as mentioned on the ticket, I've added a fuller capture that didn't truncate the http payload.  I'm guessing that the payload is not required though.

@Ben Plan B - sounds like a bad B movie. I'll take a look - but I'm with Jim - sounds like a classification issue.

Yeah, it does sound like a classification issue, I don't have Wireshark on my computer to be able to look into an actual capture. Jim was quick enough to step in and tell me though!
Plan B may definitely be making things worse, but this is only because it appears to be mis-classified in the first place.

I wish all ISPs were so proactive at blocking I-Player. It uses up valuable bandwidth for internet stuff not available via the normal TV.
Blimey - buy a hard drive recorder and free up some bandwidth.
Nothing on but crap anyway.

I know what you're insinuating but let's face it most of the video technologies have been driven by "adult special interest sites". The internet is built on and funded by porn - or it used to be, certainly helped push it forward to what we have today.  Even Microsft realised it wehn they introduced private browsing so your wife couldn't see what you'd ordered for her birthday (so the advert went)  yeah right.

OP - I know that several Bravia models have/had software issues with the i-player. I've got 2 at home connected to the internet, the newer one required a software update in order for the iplayer to work properly.

Thanks. Truth is - Sony have sold these since Jan with the lure of iPlayer. Only now in Sep have they delivered. Hooray I thought - this works really well. Sat down with SWMBO in the evening only to see very different results. Further tests revealed that buffering began at precisely 18:01 each night. Not a coincidence I thought.
Looking forward to that fix.

Youtube is throttled at 6pm by plusnet on some packages, what package are you on?
