Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

ahh ok but look at my speeds from feb to now, its very odd. Something that's puzzling me is on my router it shows 15 down, but speedtests all show just above 10, could this mean theres a problem my end ? Ive already replaced the filters. The only thing I can think of is a new light was put up outside my house to replace an old one, now someone in the forums said theres a small chance that could affect my line?

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

@ukste20
I've just increased the profile on our side to 13500kbps (i.e to match the current BT one)
I'll check in with you again on Monday if that's OK to see how things have progressed and if the fault ticket needs picking up.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Just a question, but do you have a Plasma screen, and is your router near it?
I had a router placed near my old plasma, every time the tv was on, I would get 3 - 4meg less throughput than normal, on both wireless AND wired.

OK, no problem, I've just been able to increase the profile a little again to 13700kbps.
What are your pings like today?

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

my ping is around 38-41 right now, so from Friday when you reset things its slowly creeping up. What ive done my side is replace all my filters and ive a new network cable coming on weds, just to try and rule out any faults om my side.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Forgive me if I'm wrong but ....... ping is dependent on where you are "measuring" from ...for instance,using speedtest.net I get approx the same d/load speeds( 15.6Mb -16.2Mb) from any of a number of servers ...but I can get measured pings of between 31 and 110 depending on which server I use for the speedtest. For instance,for London there are 5 different servers listed. If you get a slow increase in measured ping from the same server then you might have a line problem  Smiley

@ukste
Can you do a command line ping to bbc.co.uk or similar, this will give more consistent  results than speedtest.net

Just replaced network cables with new to rule out any faults, again im going to monitor the connection for another day
this speedtest was taken after I ran the ping tests in cmd.

so its kinda up and down, but not where it should be which is around 15-25 max.

Any ideas on what could be wrong adam ? When you reset my line last Friday my connection slowly got better and for 24 hours I had aping of 21 which was looking great then after 24 hours the ping started to go up again.
