So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Today I have a ping of 38 and speeds of 10 meg down, since the start of last month I noticed drop outs then high pings and a reduction in speeds. 3 months ago I had a stable connection with 14 meg down and a ping of 15-20 which was great but im slowly noticing a change.
But ive also been noticing a lot of other customers posting about the same issues, anyone think theres something fishy going on ?
My ip profile was 14 meg then 13 meg last week it was 12 meg and now its 11.02 Mbps its going down bit by bit Sad

That sounds like the quality of your line has degraded, or something has caused noise and the SNR has crept up. We can't directly affect the IP profile, this is worked out from the sync speed on your line.
Raise a fault at faults.plus.net and we'll take a look.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

chris check this speed recorded a few mins ago

Ive replaced all my filters with new ones and will do a test on the test socket tomorrow as this means moving my whole pc, pain in the backside but I think ill give it a clean out while doing so.
Ive just rebooted my router my download speeds have gone upto 10 meg but my ping is very high still.
If the test socket still gives me poor speeds and high pings then ill open a support ticker tomorrow.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

im struggling to add a screenshot on here, if this works chris take a look at router status for me, btw 2 weeks ago I had a lot of drop outs and plusnet support reset my line they rasied the db level from 3 to 6 db but as you can see its now at 12.3 sometimes 12.9. Are you able to turn that back down to see if it helps any ? Or even try another line reset.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Hi there,
I'm seeing some drops over the past day or two but I'm wondering if any of those might have been yourself rebooting the router?
I've submitted the SNR reset so lets see how things go with that to begin with.
Glad to see you've raised a fault so we can pick things up after the reset has processed if need be.
I'll check back in a few minutes to see if the profile needs to be updated:

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Such high SNR prolly is because interleaving has been enabled?
A reset will put you back on a 6dB profile, however if it creeps up again then a fault should be raised

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

I think interleaving is on but its always been fine up until the last 2 months.
well adam my ping is back to a normal rate, but my router shows 15meg down it was always around 14-15 max so that's ok but the router shows that but speedtest shows only 10. Btw adam I have rebooted the router twice now and jumped gateways a couple of times trying to find a solution.

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Are you doing the test via wireless or wired?
Also if you keep rebouting/gateway hopping will cause DLM to think the line has an fault and you'll get slapped with interleaving/reduced sync speeds.  Roll_eyes

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Well, if Adam has reset the line then there is nothing they can do about BT's profile. Try not rebooting and see if profile catches up  Smiley

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

Im sure they can do something to increase the profile because it was once done when I first joined plusnet
Btw I took this speedtest in feb look at difference in my speeds to what they are today, this proves somthings wrong somewhere

Re: So whats actully happening to customers broadband speeds?

PlusNET can not increase Profiles, I believe the system sets the profile on the line
The profile should catch up providing the line is stable, that means no gateway hopping  Tongue
