Slowwww. Speed 128kbps only.

After months of continuous good speeds and constant connection our BB has suddenly dipped from 2-3mb/s to a strangled 128kpbs(broadbandspeedchecker)
The downstream speed on the BT Speedtest is 3.7mb but my IP profile is 133kb, is this likely to be something within my property or something at the exchange?
Is this something which will resolve itself or is there anything we can do to resolve it?
Trying to use the internet has become a massive frustration!
Anyone able to help?

an ip profile of 150K (the lowest IIRC) is usually caused by a low sync event.
This could be (for instance) BT are doing some maintenance, and it upsets the line, your router keeps trying to connect and eventually does (but then keeps getting disconnected) The DLM sees this as instability, and lowers the speed Should just take a few days for this to change, PN can nudge their side to match BTs side, but it should automatically update after several hours (touch wood)

Yes roughly double from the 2-3Mb you initially quoted when you started this topic

I have a similar problem.
My maximum is around 6Mbps and the minimum is 0.424Mbps with the average at 2.6Mbps, so my speed is more often below 2Mbps than above it.

In your case I believe the problem may be due to the VPs (Virtual Paths) in the exchange being amber (link to Plusnet post).
