Re: Slow tonight

Well, after a reporting a fault regarding a drop in speed it appears BT found a fault on my line.
It's a pity it hasn't improved my speed  Undecided

Modulation : ADSL2+

Line State : up
Lan Tx : 571496721
Lan Rx : 385730449

Line Attenuation Up : 6.9
Line Attenuation Down : 11.0

Is there any chance the SNR can be reset.
I was considering switching to Fibre in the New Year, but if this is the best Plusnet can do for me on ADSL................

Re: Slow tonight

Be interesting to see if the speed has improved when I get in from work.  Would be nice if someone could at least reply to this from the CRT  Undecided

Latency is much better, but it's made little difference to the speed

Re: Slow tonight

Slow tonight?  Going back to the beginning of this year - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,135420.msg1186527.html#msg1186527 - did you ever get an explanation of why it is slow ALL OF THE TIME?
Why is a line with 12dB attenuation only delivering 15Mbps synch speed?  The SNRM reset from 9dB to 6dB will help a little, but not that much.  Also why has the SNRM shifted to 9dB?

Re: Slow tonight

The last engineer said I would get no more than I was getting at the time, which was about 13.5Mbps. I got the feeling he was saying I should be grateful for what I was getting  Undecided
Having raised a fault last week, I had a reply yesterday telling me that BT had repaired a fault they found, but they didn't say what sort or where.
It is so frustrating when I was always over 16Mbps on speed tests when I was with BE, my previous ISP ( Who were swallowed up by Sky  Sad ).  Plusnet just don't seem interested, which makes me loath to swap to Fibre with them.

Re: Slow tonight

To be fair, this is not PlusNet would don't care.  The BTOR engineer's attitude is simply not acceptable performance for a 12dB line - it should do better and only BTOR can fix that.  It should do more than 15Mbps.  IIRC you've stated that you are 400m from the exchange (EO line).  Aside from poor joints or super thin wires, there is no good reason for this circuit doing somewhat better.  Though for FTTC you will need to go via a cabinet just outside the exchange door, if the use the same d-side circuit, I suspect you will still have problems.

Re: Slow tonight

There is now a cabinet dedicated to the EO line we are one. It took them over 6 weeks to install 4 new cabinets on the main road about 250 yards away. It is then less than 150 yards from those cabinets to the exchange.  I really want better on ADSL before I even consider Fibre  Undecided

Speed test looks like it's banging on the limiter  Undecided
BT say they have cleared a fault, so why am I not getting more speed than this.  Unless of course I am being limited in the speed I am allowed  Wink

Re: Slow tonight

You need to check:
1. ADSL line rate
2. BT IP Profile
3. Plusnet Current Line Speed
4. That the PPP session has been re-connected after the Plusnet Current Line Speed updated.
Do NOT reboot your modem/router otherwise that takes you back to step 1 in the above list of things that need to happen for your speed to change. I'm guessing you are waiting for item 3 or 4 to update / happen.
