Re: Slow throughput

My current router is a Billion 8800NL, I also have a Billion 7800n and a Draytek Vigor v2. I also made sure they where all using the latest firmware.

Re: Slow throughput

Thanks Brian, that answered another thought. Can you try the 7800n and post some more stats with error figures tomorrow?

Re: Slow throughput

I have just checked the other routers, They don't have the same in-depth error stats available as the 8800NL  Sad I'm not sure how much use they would be. I have tested throughput on them and they are the same.

Re: Slow throughput

You need to Telnet in to the 7800N to get more stats. When you've Telnetted in, the command at the >prompt is     adsl info --stats
IIRC.

Re: Slow throughput

Thanks Anotherone, I will give that a go once their line testing is complete. They've said I should leave the router connected into the master socket for the full fault testing period. It also looks like my line switched back to ADSL2 last night but the Bit errors and HEC errors are still there. Pic below is an uptime of 14 hours.

Re: Slow throughput

Hi Brian, that's probably the Upstream Uncapping that's resolved that. I'd assume by now your Current Line Speed is matching your new BT IP Profile, so what sort of download speed are you now getting?
The ES and SF(CRC) errors are pretty fair for the uptime, but the HECs are much higher than they should be and these Bit Errors bother me.

Re: Slow throughput

Yeah the errors have gone up since the last screenshot :(. My Plusnet profile is exactly 15Mb and my BT IP profile is 14.48Mbps. The throughput is around 8Mbps.

Re: Slow throughput

That upload speed is bad too. Try a speedtest very late or early hours if you are about, to see if it may be congestion related.

Re: Slow throughput

The pic on reply #19 shows the upstream is still capped.

Thanks Jaggies, I should have gone to specsavers and engaged brain before typing  Embarrassed
Do IRC that uncaps don't happen at weekends? If so, that may happen tomorrow.

Re: Slow throughput

I've run another test at 2am to rule out any exchange congestion issues which gave a throughput of 6.51Mbps. I have also included the router stats after 24 hours uptime. The Bit errors are close to 20 million and HEC errors are approaching 500k with super frame errors 123k.  Undecided When everyone is on the internet at the same time in the house it becomes nearly unusable  Sad

Re: Slow throughput

Hi,
The upstream is still 448k. The order I placed on Saturday to change this didn't go through as expected. As soon as the original order completes (tomorrow) I can place the order to uncap the upload (again). Once this is complete, I'll take another look at your line stats and advise further.
