Slow speeds today.

Usually at 9.7 D/L and 5 ms ping,
It's been like this all day.........

Cant understand though how I can have a sync of 10.7 and a D/L speed of 9.7, then I reboot and get a sync of 12.4 and still stuck with a D/L speed of 9.7.  Is the PN profile still not updating ?

Re: Slow speeds today.

Am I right in thinking that my sync is 12.4, so with the 88% rule I should be getting close to 11 meg download ?
My sync has risen from 10.8 to 12.4 but the PN profile is still stuck on 10.3.

Estimated line speed:7Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2012-01-22 15:06:31Current line speed: 10.3 Mb
My speed has been stuck at 9.7 for ages, it went up to 10.3 for a day then dropped again.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Hi there,
I suspect the slowdown was caused by being on a busy gateway yesterday following the afternoon's outage rather than any sort of line issue. If you didn't lose connection that will almost certainly be the case, as the working gateways (those not connected via the Colindale node) will be where all the customers who'd dropped would reconnect to, hence the slowdowns.
If that's not the case please let us know, but things should improve as we're in the process of sorting out the network balance now.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Just to add to that (thanks to Jojo), might be worth visiting http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway - that will tell you which gateway you're on.
If it's one of these:
21CN:
pcl-ag06 WBC.Colindale1
pcl-ag07 WBC.Colindale1
ptn-ag2 WBC.Colindale1
ptw-ag03 WBC.Faraday1
ptw-ag01 WBC.Faraday1
ptw-ag02 WBC.Faraday1
20CN
pcl-ag01 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag02 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag03 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag04 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag05 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag07 IPSC.Faraday2
pcl-ag08 IPSC.Faraday2
ptn-ag2 IPSC.Faraday1
ptw-ag01 IPSC.Faraday1
ptw-ag03 IPSC.Faraday1
It'd probably be worth dropping the connection then reconnecting to try and get onto a different one that's not listed above as they're a lot less congested.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Since it didn't get answered in the other thread why aren't both 20CN and 21CN affected when they are on the same gateway
Edit - typo corrected

Old Jim
Should that be why aren't both 21CN and 20CN affected when they are on the same gateway? ;

Re: Slow speeds today.

Thanks for the replies,
Matt, the speed is back to normal now, I didn't loose connection either so thanks for the heads up on the outages. I am on one of those gateways so I will do a reset tomorrow morning.
Also is there any chance of upping my PN profile ?
Thanks in advance,
Jim.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Sure thing - upped to 12300 to match your current sync rate Smiley

Re: Slow speeds today.

New to the forums been with plusnet for around 2 weeks now i see a few people are having slow speeds since the outage yesterday .I've not really noticed and decrease in performance speed is pretty solid and a fairly decent ping time

Re: Slow speeds today.

This seems to be getting more and more regular now,

Speed just drops off of a night time.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Thank's anotherone, I hadn't seen that.
Trying to watch the football and getting 10 seconds of play and 10 seconds of frozen screen. Still the final score made up for it and I am not even a Man City fan lol.

Re: Slow speeds today.

I'm guessing a bit here, but as the Gateways are in London, you may see better results using a London server. Try the Namesco one.

Re: Slow speeds today.

Hi JamesM,
Did it get better later? In general was it ok apart from last night?
