Slow speeds since weekend

Hey Staff
I've noticed a massive drop in speed on my line since I last used it on Friday.
My modem has been on all w/e but I have had to disconnect it from the mains a few times but only for a few minutes at a time.
I have been decorating and I suspected I may have snagged the phone line to my modem while moving furniture but I have checked it over and it appears to be intact.

Quote
Download speedachieved during the test was - 176 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1792 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 224 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 250 Kbps

Could you check my results and look over my profile at your end before I buy a new telephone extension please?
Thanks

Re: Slow speeds since weekend

Your low speed has almost certainly been caused by the multiple drops. You should have turned it off and only plugged it in again when you were finished.
If it stays consistently connected at the current speed, within 3 days the speed should return to normal.

Re: Slow speeds since weekend

Great, thank you for looking into my problem Jelv Smiley
I don't understand all these numbers referring to IP Profile and such, If it is at 250 now, what should it be at?

Thanks again

Re: Slow speeds since weekend

If your sync speed stays above 1728 you will get an IP Profile of 1500

Re: Slow speeds since weekend

An upstream sync speed of 224kbps doesn't look good; this should be 448kbps. That might be an indication that the modem cable or a filter has, in fact, been damaged. What stats (sync speeds, attenuations and noise margins) are shown by your router?

Re: Slow speeds since weekend

Hi Sen3ra,
I've just ran a line test and been looking at your connection logs. Your sync rate looks good now at 7712 but that means nothing if the connection keeps dropping. Look at the logs below, there are drops at similar times each day. Is there anything you can think of at these times that may cause this? The first thing I would do is look at our troubleshooting guide and if that doesn't help you can then raise a fault.
