Slow speeds & dropouts since switching from BE a couple of weeks ago.

Hi,
I have been experiencing slowing speeds & dropouts over the last 2 weeks, frustratingly I have to keep rebooting the router - several times a day - night seems worse! IThe router  a Draytek vigor 2800.
I phoned support on Friday, and was told that I must leave my router on all the time, and not to keep rebooting it, which is ridiculous, as that'd mean within 2-3 hours, I'd have no internet at all, and it'll remain that way, which also means I can't work. A stupid catch 22 situation. Which I said just isn't acceptable. I was then told in that case an engineer needs to come out which may cost £60. Why? everything was perfect and stable when I was with BE, and I note others seem to be having a similar problem.

Also since switching from BE Online, I used to have an upstream of 0.7 Mbps, which it's now just half. 0.35 Mbps. Why can I not have my previous upstream speed, when we know my line is capable of that?
This is what the BTW performance test is showing :

You appear to be on ADSL1 (G.DMT). Is ADSL2+ / 21CN available at your exchange? You can check here: https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
You shouldn't need to reboot a router. Isn't there anything you can do if you login to the router webpages to restore the Internet connection?

Yes, my exchange is indeed 21CN.
How do I go about getting this sorted out, and changed then?
I've just been soft rebooting the router until now, When it next comes to a grinding halt, I'll log into the router and see if I can restore the connection, although I'm quite sure that it 'auto' reconnects if it experiences drop outs?
I guess I'll find out!

If you line was originally ordered as ADSL1 with capped upstream, someone from Plusnet will need to place an order to have it changed to ADSL2+ with uncapped upstream. Either wait for Plusnet to spot this forum thread on Monday, or you could try phoning them again and it might get done a day sooner.
It's possible ADSL2+ will be faster and more stable, but it won't necessarily fix a dropping connection problem.

Ok, I found that the line isn't actually fully dropping, as when it grids to a halt, the router shows that the connection is still up, Although data comes to a standstill. So I though I'd try a proccess of elimination, so I hooked up the technicolor basi router modem that I was sent when I joined Plusnet a few weeks ago, and found A) No slowing to a standstill in the last 24 hrs, has been fine, and it shows that it's working in ADSL2 mode?

You need to set ADSL2+ (G992.5) in the setting in the PPOA/PPOE section in the Internet Access part.

Your upstream sync speed is still capped at 448kbps. You need to request upstream be uncapped if you want more. However it might be best to wait until you've checked stability using ADSL2 before requesting a further change.

Thanks Spraxyt, It's vital I get more upstream, Will leave it as is for next couple of hours, as will know for sure by then in comparison.
