Slow speed

I came home after a week away and found my broadband was unusually slow after many months of troublefree operation.
Is there anything obvious from the stats?
BT test
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.45 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05
Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2.88 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps
(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.5 Mbps

Plusnet test
Estimated line speed:
Not recorded (service activated before we introduced
estimates).
Current line speed:
2.5 Mb

Re: Slow speed

I think you have muddled the results from the BT speed test
I assume that the BT IP profile is 0.5Mbps and as such all you can do is wait for it to increase. As you apparently  are on 20CN that isn't instantaneous
How long has the router been in sync

Yes, the BT IP Profile is 0.5.
I'm not sure what you mean by my router being 'in sync'.

Re: Slow speed

Router up time is probably it
The idea is to find out when it came back up to 2880kbps sync speed

Re: Slow speed

I just got back after being away for a week. I left the router on so it was 'in sync' the whole time, so far as I know.

Re: Slow speed

But have you checked what the router gives as the up time as it could easily have had several resynchs without you being aware of it

Re: Slow speed

I'm not sure how to check sync time ... but, I just did another BT test and got this:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.26 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2.88 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2.5 Mbps

So, it's recovered very fast.
Having had a lot of problems in the past, which began in the same way as this, I was worried I might be in for another long haul ... thankfully not.

Hello Matt,
Unfortunately, a few hours after that massive change for the better, everything suddenly deteriorated again. I don't mind waiting a few days for things to return to normal, but I'm wondering if this is a problem that's likely to repeat.  Here are the tests I did over the last three days:

May 20 1800 BT
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.31 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :0.9 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.35 Mbps
May 21 0800
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.32 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1.7 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.35 Mbps
May 21 1900
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.31 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1.7 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.35 Mbps
May 22 0830
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.32 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1.7 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.35 Mbps

Re: Slow speed

There's just been a sudden, further drop in my connection speed. I noticed it occurred after a lengthy telephone conversation, during which there was a certain amount of background noise. I've had this noise on and off recently. A day or two ago I tried a corded phone in the master socket and it was the same. The noise is not there at the moment, though it was during the conversation.. I did an automatic BT phoneline test which found no fault.
These latest stats are alarming, to say the least. My DSL Connection Rate has shrunk to almost nothing!
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.11 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :0.16 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps
