Hi,
I am on the 2mb product but have been only seeing download speeds of 256k for the last few days.
Running a BT Voyager 2100 with latest firmware.
According to a past PN speedtest I was getting 1836k at the start of the year, but it seems to have degraded over time.
Any ideas?
James

Quote from: PJ Can you do a BT speedtest and post the results?
Thanks for the quick reponse PJ - would love to but the test keeps crappng out at 96% with a timeout error. Managed to run one earlier and the reported speed was not too far off the results I linked to above.
Will try a BT one again tomorrow.

Hi there,
You're on the fixed 2MB product so that speedtest won't work.
We can test and raise this as a fault for you, if you could visit the Fault Checker and give us the necessary info.
Alternatively I can place an order to give you upto 8MB if you like ?

Hi James,
You're not actually on a fixed rate product, but our internal monitoring hadn't picked up on a profile change at BT's end.
I've since changed this for you, so if you try rebooting your hardware, you should notice an improvement in speed.

James (and PJ),
Thanks for your help here.
I managed to run the BT speed test this morning and got a good result:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1817 kbps
If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.
Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.
But this evening I am again back to around 256k - is this just a case of heavy contention (my wireless finder picks up a number of Sky wireless network connections locally)?
I have applied for the 8mb (adslmax) upgrade - hope this is noted on my account - is this going to help, or if this is contention will I be in the same position?
I really DONT want to swap to Virgin Media Cable, as I have been a very satisfied PN customer for a long time.
Thanks
James
