Re: Slow internet - possible dns issue

@ec2 In your case, a replacement Hub is not the answer - yours is the current model and is fully up-to-date, so your issue is different.

It would probably be a good idea to start your own topic, with the full details from that Hub page, obscuring your personal details.

Re: Slow internet - possible dns issue

@ec2  Welcome to the Community forums.

You have the latest firmware on your hub. The OP’s hub was changed because that device was of an age where it could not be updated.
Have you tried selecting the DNS resolvers in the device that is giving you issues? This bypasses those set in the hub. If you want help with this then let us know details of the device and the operating system in use.

Re: Slow internet - possible dns issue

Thanks for ruling out the firmware.

The issue seems to be with all devices, so ideally looking for a solution that doesn't involve setting nameservers in each.

@ec2 A fuller description of your issue may help. How are you determining/seeing this issue?

@ec2

The purpose of suggesting setting the DNS resolvers locally was not as a permanent fix but to see if this is your problem. It could easily be something else so this is a way to either confirm or eliminate DNS as being your issue.

Re: Slow internet - possible dns issue

Being intermittent, it's a bit hard to diagnose, but I think the symptom is latency.

For example, this morning I waited about 20s to get a connection to the M-lab speed test, but it reported 33.7 Mbps down/8.5 Mbps up. Around the same time there was lag on instant messaging and populating Spotify UI.
