Slow download, not existent upload

All,

Been having a load of problems with my broadband over the last few months that required a ticket to be raised and the line to be reset (with an "identified fault") probably once or twice every week. Not ideal but it was manageable.

This week is a different story.

Starting Monday, particularly between the hours of 8:00-10:00AM and 14:00+ the internet is just completely unusable (particularly the fact that upload is a constant 0 as I need to remote for work). I've been in contact with a tech representative earlier who identified an intermittent problem and a flag that suggested that the master socket's faceplate was getting an intermittent connection - the solution being that we went through the process of moving my router from the extension socket to the master's test socket.

This was all good for about 30 minutes until the problem resurfaced and again, the internet is now completely unusable. A reset of the router seems to give about 2 minutes of genuine Download 10mbps+, Upload ~1mbps but then reverts back to having issues.

I've tried all of WiFi, power line (usual setup) and ethernet.

It's in an apartment block and nobody else around me has reported any issues after chatting to a few.

The outcome of the call with the tech representative was to leave the router in the master's test socket for 3 days to gather data - does this mean I have to live with these problems until Saturday (so Monday at this point) before any further investigation can take place? I currently can't work.

Re: Slow download, not existent upload

Have you tried just the router in the test socket, and your PC direct to the router?

It sounds like you are suffering from congestion, quite possibly caused by someone else in the block also using powerlines and they are connecting via the mains to your network.

Unless you can use encryption on the powerlines, they are not a good idea in a block.

Re: Slow download, not existent upload

Yeah I switched to that Monday afternoon when these major problems first popped up but neither WiFi or ethernet directly to the router sees any difference.
