Slow Upload Speed

Hi
I was wondering If upload speeds are capped or is 0.5mb upload speed 'normal'?
Thanks

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hi cflor,
Welcome to the forums.  What product are you referring to?  Was that speed test done over WiFi or a wired connection?  Which speed test did you use?
Can you please read the "slow speeds issues" thread at the top of this forum and gather the requested information>
Thanks.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hi
The test was done over WiFi using http://www.speedtest.net/ (I'm sat about 2 metres away from it).
I'm also on the Unlimited Broadband package
Plugged into ethernet directly to router and I get: 0.7mb
I plugged into the test socket and viewed router stats:

System Up Time 00:08:55
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoE 28603 36635 0 9205 103247 00:07:58
LAN 100M/Full 40083 30905 0 97629 8242 00:08:34
WLAN 11M/54M 2548 2534 0 954 629 00:08:55
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14332 kbps 888 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.5 db 15.0 db
Noise Margin 6.60 db 16.5 db
Thanks

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hi cflor,
Welcome to the community!
If you could retry these tests using a wired connection and let us know the outcome and we should be able to investigate this a little further for you.

Thanks,

Re: Slow Upload Speed

The above were taken with a wired connection. My laptop was plugged into an ethernet cable directly connected to the router

Re: Slow Upload Speed

The speeds from the BT speedtest are about what I would expect from your sync speed
For some reason your upstream has been interleaved so the speed is limited to 888kbps

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Can this be removed and if so, could it improve the upload speed?

Re: Slow Upload Speed

It could be removed, and improve upload sync speed, however, the line has been interleaved because it was running errors. If interleaving is taken off, your sync speed might go higher, but the errors may actually make the circuit run slower.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

So, I'm in a catch-22 situation then?

Re: Slow Upload Speed

For the moment it would seem that way  Sad
Personally I would allow the DLM to do it's job and if the line improves then you should see the interleaving removed and the speeds restored. As Xreyuk pointed out, forcing the removal of the interleaving could have a negative affect on your service.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

This isn't a new thing though.
We moved recently (December/January kind of time) and the upload speed has been pretty much a constant 0.5MB

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hi again cflor,
Your provisioned upload is definitely uncapped as per the screenshot below which means that it seems the upload is part of the limitations of the line. The speed test you posted initially where the upload hits 888kbps would also show that this is uncapped as it managed to surpass the 448kbps that a capped service would offer.
Fault checks show interleaving in place however it hasn't highlighted any issues with the line so again the best course of action would be wait for the line to improve of its own accord.

Thanks,
Adam C

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hi Adam
Many thanks for the clarification. I'll keep checking the line to see if there is any improvement
Thank you
