Re: Slow Speeds.

Hi Dermott,
Would you mind trying to reboot your router?  It may need a reboot to pick up the newer, higher profile.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Just rebooted router and changed the filter and my speed as somewhat increased, yet not consistent.
Would more reboots help?

Re: Slow Speeds.

It shouldn't make any difference once you have rebooted once.
Can you keep an eye on things over the course of the eveninig to see if things improve towards "quiet" times?  It could potentially be an exchange contention issue.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Used the fault system and it reported:
The results of our tests show no fault with your broadband connection. Completed speed tests show that your connection speed is: none found
According to BT, this speed is within the limits of acceptable performance for broadband service.
"none found" surely this can't be right?

Re: Slow Speeds.

This means that the faults tool hasn't been able to find any speed test results stored by BT - this isn't a problem as our diagnostics agents will be able to get hold of these results manually. This should get resolved when the automated faults system is given its next revamp.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Hi there,
I wonder whether it might be an MTU/rWin issue.
Can you have a look here:
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/troubleshooting/rwin_guide.shtml
If you try downloading DR TCP from here:
http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp
And setting MTU to 1430 on your computer and router (if your router allows you to) and settings the Receive Window to 83400.
You'll need to reboot after applying these changes and it *may* help your connection speeds.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Can I ask if you rebooted your router and your computer?

Re: Slow Speeds.

I'm afraid that I'm at a bit of a loss of what else to suggest.
Chances are that this could be caused by exchange contention, but you're exchange is showing up as "green".  If we were to raise this to BT they wouild probably just send it straight back to us as a congestion issue.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Whats the best plan of action?
I'm willing to wait a week or two if needed, see if it sorts itself out.

Re: Slow Speeds.

Definitely worth doing just to see if things improve. See if you can add some new spikes to your graph Smiley
