Obviously the wire from Master to first extension then.
There seems to be a noise issue hear to sort, is there any audible noise on the line, you haven't mentioned that? At least the sync is hanging on at the moment.

Hi Wattsy,
well, we all have days like that!
0930 this morning, now those figures in the test socket are starting to indicate the potential of your line, but I'm not sure which attenuation figures to believe. When plugged back into the master, the noise level has increased, ie the margin reduced most likely because of the break in the wire and only one leg is connecting (this also suggests the break is at or near the master end).
We've had some variation in the test socket as well, so I think it's about time we considered trying another modem/router to compare. There is so much variation going on and a bit of inconsistency, we've got to narrow it down a bit. Do you have a spare or can you borrow one?

Hiya
No I haven't another router, I just have the Dynamode PCI modem and a speedtouch 330. Can't think of anyone who I could borrow one.
I have been looking on the internet for an easy way to create an extension from the master socket to my living room socket. Then I would take
the faulty extension wire out altogether.

Just use the green pair as I suggested in my PM, otherwise if you want to replace the cable you need the appropriate length of 2pair cable to spec.CW1308. This should be readily available at anywhere that does decent telecoms bits. (2 pair - ie 4 wires it'll be a blue pair and an orange pair). As you know you just need to use the blue pair. But really, don't worry about using the green pair in the current cable - it's your cable (not BT's) anything down stream of the master socket is your responsibility, you could use lightung flex for all anyone cares - no good for broadband though!!
I'll post back about the modem.
I'll post back about the modem.

Try the Speedtouch. Make sure you've got the latest drivers. All the info you need is in that link from reply #5 from Oldjim on the first page of this thread. We need a comparative set of stats.
