Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

Hi all; Have been with plustnet fibre broadband for a month now and have and am on the unlimited service ( 80/20 service )
During the first week my speeds were great and I generally got 55Mbps Down and 15Mbps Up; however in the last few weeks my speed has dropped to 44Mbps Down and 7Mbps Up. Up speed is especially important for me has I host severs and live stream.
I also have a static IP address as well if that's any relevance.
Is there any reason why speed has changed so much, especially my up speed? Does my IP profile need resetting/ or changing? My VDSL/Openreach modem is of the new ECI type.
Finally; I have also raised a ticket for my IP profile to be reset; but have had no reply or change in service yet. Am I just better off phoning plusnet up?
(Also if any relevance; my exchange is Godstone and my cabinet I come off is number 11.)

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

I deal with networks in a every day sense, and had not changed anything when my speeds dropped globally across my network; any way here are my results from the speed test.
Down: 44.41Mbps
Up: 6.9Mbps
Ping: 21.13ms

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

We need the diagnostic test which is run from the results page of the initial test please. It gives the IP profile information.
The results will look something like this:
Quote
Download speedachieved during the test was - 17.65 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-46.49 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 46.49 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.39Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

@GrottoTree
You'll have to raise a fault, only way you'll get this resolved. I'm going through the same stage now with plusNET and it requires BTOR to visit local cabinet.

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

Maybe unstable line, and DLM has kicked in and set profile to a lower speed so the connection becomes stable?  Smiley

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

How would I go about improving my upload speed as what is most important for me; did not notice and drops or connection issues. Can plusnet at their end disable DLM for me, and should I report an issue?

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

You can't disable DLM, and they'd require a BTOR Eng to visit to reset it.
Hopefully Chris will see this topic, and he'll be able to help

Hi GrottoTree,
Has your connection dropped whilst you've had FTTC at all? The DLM would only make changes if it is really necessary which is why I ask.

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

I did unplug everything 2 weeks ago whist I was physically reconfiguring my equipment along with one other time when I had a power cut within my 10 day training period; although I don't know if my connection as dropped otherwise whist i have not been here or asleep,etc...
Also why would my Upload drop by so much (50%) and my download by so little. Is there anyway to see the line on my noise such as the attenuation and noise margin without hacking the ECI VDSL modem?

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

The last date my speeds were normal was on the 20th October;I noticed the drop on the the 26th October ignoring it for a while thinking it would sort it's self out and stabilise. My line was activated and went live on the 16th October.
Screen shot from the 17th October

Re: Slow Speed = Wrong IP profile / IP profile need resetting?

I'm asking questions as it helps resolve this issue for you. Have the speeds steadily decreased or have they got to this speed and stayed as they are?

Relating to the upload speed, when you ran the speed test had you made sure the servers and the live stream were stopped?
