Slow Broadband


Hi All
I am having problems with my broadband speed .
It has bee running great since I got the last fault fixed but the last couple of days it has starting playing up with speeds on about 400 kbps
Please can you check it out for me.

Hi chris2005,
Please can you run a BT speed test at http://www.speedtester.bt.com and paste the results in here? Also have you noticed whether or not the line drops, and if so does it still drop with the router in the master socket and all other items removed from the line?

I removed everything apart from my pc from router, plugged router into test socket but still have slow speeds.
when I try and do the BT tester it keeps coming back with error.

The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider.

Hi Chris,
I've tested the line and can see there's an LTB fault still present so I'll pass this back to our faults team for more investigation (an LTB fault means your line is in sync below the fault threshold rate that was set on your line during the initial 10 day training period).

Apologies, I hadn't realised the previous fault was with the phone line - please can you raise this to us via http://faults.plus.net so we can have a look? You've already done the majority of tests there so it should only take a few minutes to run through.

I will get a new router tomorrow and check that first as my router is pretty old  ( Netgear DG834G V1 )

I've done a bit of digging around and it doesn't look like there is currently any dates for an upgrade to fibre on your exchange.

Hi Jojo,
I have reported a fault with my broadband as I am only getting speeds of 400 kbps,
It is similar to the fault I had last time which you rest my line and then the fault disapeared.
Nothing has been changed on my setup apart from buying a different router to try and fix the problem.
I have a message to arrange a call from an engineer to check my home wiring but its hard for me to get time off work for this.
Can you please check from your end as you sorted out the problem last time .

Hi chris2005,
As our faults team have been testing this and deemed that you need an engineer then I would go with that. If it was something they could have done from this end then they would have done it.

The engineer is due to call today but now this morning the broadband is working fine ,
I dont no if something has been fixed already but its been very slow for a week or so .
